Balance Tanks - Music for a game

I've been working on a couple of tracks for a computer game. The studio that develop this game is called Bebop studios and I'm in charge for writing the music for the game, the game is called Balance Tanks.

Here is a short video of the game (work in progress) and the music track that I've written is called "Tank em Down".

Enjoy!

Meeeeeeew!!

Few bands suprise me today. It feels like i've heard every chord progression and rytmic pattern that's out there (exaggerated of course, but you get the feeling). Then bands like MEW come along. I really like this band, they have grown on me with their quirky strange progressive pop. Just check out their latest video:

This band inspires me, this band is interesting.

Moving on

I fill all my spare time with my projects, there will be some releases before the end of this year. I can feel thats its downhill now in some of my projects, I'm getting there.

Some updates then:

Lindberg Studios PROMO - Finished two more tracks this week - 'Rain' and 'Departure'. Now I have 18 tracks completed of 22 in total, and 2 of these last 4 are waiting for vocals and mix, so they are almost complete as well. Lovely!

Point zero - we had another rehearsal this week, we had a blast! Pure joy, and between each song we played it seemed like we always ended up in a nasty funk groove, hehe.

Also, their is a few guys that has contacted us about singing in the band, and we're talking with these guys now. So we'll see. We're exited again anyways.

Dubbla Baskaggar - I just posted a promo-trailer for this project below this entry, it's a new metal project and all the music is almost done there as well. I won't give away the members of the band, I think we'll go under cool aliases instead. :)

Like I told you earlier, I'm also working on music for a game. The music should be DONE next week. There's two songs for this project right now, I don't know if there will be a need of more tracks as the project evolves. It looks like a cool game anyway. I'll keep you updated on this as well, of course.

Also I written another christmas song. I hope I'll be able to release a few christmas tunes before christmas 2009 starts!

Hold your horses!

Many projects at the same time

Music, music, music..

Finished mixing the track 'Terminal' today, its also for my promo. It's a moody and dark track.

I have also produced some dance/club tracks, and I have started a colab with a singer for these tracks. More about this later!

Finally I wrote a christmas song, my first ever. It's a poppy jazzy strange little song with a few surprises. It's pretty rough mixed right now, I will mix it more properly on sunday. Maybe it will be on a annual christmas CD from kontrollrummet.com. If I can get it good enough by tuesday.

I'm also working on the music for a game in development. This will be my main focus during the coming week. Probably I'll help em out with sound effects as well.

That's all for now. Tomorrow evening I'm going with my friend - wall-E, to see Freak Kitchen and two supporting acts. Maybe I'll shoot some photos to share from the event.

See ya'll!

Singer wanted!

Sadly, our friend and long time rocker Johan has now decided to leave the point zero-building, he don't have the time to put into the band anymore. No hard feelings at all. We hope that the rock will return to Johan someday, but in the meantime..

We need to find a new singer! ..and boy, its not an easy thing to do!

So if you got any tips, or if you want to apply for this rockin' job, please send me a note:

info@lindbergmusic.se

This also means that the album will be postponed until we got a full band again, hopefully early 2010!

Surviving Horror Movies - The Manual

We had another music 'festival' over at the studio forum (swedish music board). This time the theme was HORROR, and you were supposed to write music that would frighten the listener. I wanted to participate but I did it with my own spin of things, I wrote a popish/musical song with a horror theme and the lyrics addressed typical situations in standard horror movies. The song ended up in the middle of the list somewhere, but I got some really nice reviews on it though.

The session was a bit rushed when recording this song, so I want to revisit it sometime, to satisfy my vision for it :D

Try it!

Music:

Lyrics:

Surviving Horror Movies - The Manual

I'm frightened, frightened, are they coming to get me?

Now I try to run away

I trip and fall like the others

The guy in mask walk real fast

He will get a hold of me

I have no chance he'll surprise me

When I feel the urge to be alone

I'm frightened, frightened, are they coming to get me?

No, I don't suspect that guy

He's to damn obvious

It could be anyone

When I hear a sound at night

I Don't go and find it out

I know it ain't just my cat

I would never run away like them others

I don't need to be alone like them others

My song featured in a frag movie

My song 'State of solace', that is featured on my upcoming promo, is now featured in a frag movie. In the end of the movie during the ending credits.

You can check the video here if you'd like!

(frag movie = a movie where some guys show their skill in killing other guys in a computer game. The game featured in this video is 'Tactical Ops' which I actually played a few years back).

Lindberg Studios Promo, continued

Worked on 'when reality bring you down' today. Its close to done, finally. I mailed it to two singers today, I hope both of them will deliver their version of it. Got the idea of making two or three different versions of the song. Maybe even different remixes of it. I'll see what happens, at least I need to get one working version to begin with. I have a version with me singing, but I wanted another voice on it as well, it would give a better diversity to the promo later. Anyhow.. I'll try to finish the rest of the tracks for the promo this coming week. Soon...

When Reality Bring Me Down

...I just finished (I think) the lyrics for 'When Reality Bring Me Down'. A somewhat greyish view on reality :) Anyways, here it is..

When Reality Bring Me Down

Light greets my eyes
In these fiery skies
I can hear the bell toll at the end of the line
Time takes us all
Even those who don't deserve to fall
And all my remorse - the scars the remain

I choose not to follow you - I'll find my own way
She tells I'm lost - this world ain't for me
Then worlds fall asunder - and I start to wonder
When reality bring me down

Dark greets my eyes
In these endless skies
I loose my dreams in this world of no hope
I bring you lies
Death and the bitterness in cries
All I can hear - the theme of the end

I choose not to follow you - I'll find my own way
She tells I'm lost - this world ain't for me
Then worlds fall asunder - and I start to wonder
When reality bring me down

The things I'm left with
The dreams that follow
My path, a way out of here
and I wont tell them
What I am feelin'
Afraid of what they would do - if you know me too

No I won't go there
If you will be there
I know you don't care - if I make it here
The lies you're telling
The screams and yelling
No, I won't stand here and fight - Like you know me too

Lindberg Studios Promo

Will it ever be finished? :)

I actually thought this one would have been finished around christmas 2008, but its still in the making. To my defense the number of songs have increased and its clear that that deadline was way to optimistic. But now I'm getting closer, fifteen songs have been finished and seven are left. So now I feel that its time to push this one.. to drag it over the finish line and get it 'out of my system', once and for all.

I started setting up a few deadlines now and have contacted singers for some of the songs that are left. My main focus are on these four songs for now: lost in space, you, terminal and when reality brings you down. If I get these tracks finished, I'm almost there.

I recorded most of the music for the track you today. It just needs to get proper guitars and vocals before I mix it.

The optimistic freddy says the promo will be done in the end of November, the realistic freddy says that it will probably get done before the end of 2009, it must. At least for my sanity.

Back to the studio before nightynighty.. :)

Every Little You

Worked on a little melodic 'mainstream' rocker today. The music and lyrics were written earlier, but now I've started to record and arrange it. I will post it as soon as it's finished. The lyrics:

Every little you

Every little thing that turned to memories
Every little touch and every shared dream
Now that I'm awake I wonder what you do
Now that I'm here I wonder where you are

And I'm lost without you
Can't believe we are through
Say what else I could do love
But to say I love you

Every little talk and pointless bickoring
Every wish that you would understand
Every little you that live in my memories
Every little drop that pours out in my sand

And I'm lost without you
Can't believe We are through
Say what else I could do
With these words I leave you

Found out the hard way that you're ending this (you're ending this)
Can't believe we walk from this as enemies (as enemies)

And I'm lost without you
Can't believe We are through
Say what else I could do
With these words I leave you

I'll be back..

Work

Happy halloweeeeeen to ya!

Some minor news from the passed week:

I got contacted this week about a game project. I will make the music (maybe sound effects as well) for a game that will be featured in a few gaming contests next year. Still work in progress, but I wanted to mention it here, more about this as it progress.

Also, bass recordings with pz has been somewhat delayed, we were supposed to record this weekend, but we'll fix it the coming week instead. No problemo.

Drums recorded!

It's official, our drummer rocks! Walle you ROCK!

You can almost see how much he rocks on this image:

The weekend went well. We focused on nailing the drums for 'my reason' during saturday evening and it went pretty well, we did a few takes on it and finally got a take that worked for us. We had some time left and did a few takes on 'Unbeatable Foe', which is the other song we recorded drums for this weekend. Walle rocked but we all felt a bit tired and decided to nail the last song on sunday.

On sunday we got to the studio with a bit more confident and Walle played amazing all through. He played with a lot of soul and feel on 'unbeatable foe'. I think it was the second take on that song or something, he was surely in the zone. :D

After that we listened to the recording of 'my reason' from the previous day, and we decided to do try another take on that song as well. Glad we did! It was even better this time around. Walle played like he was on fire :) ..and I must say that this guy POUNDS his drums, I almost felt a bit sorry for the drums after a while.

There's actually only one word that sum up Walle's performance - ROCK!

This coming weekend we'll aim to record the bass for these two songs.

Now I'm tired, my head needs some sleep...

Drums in place and mic'ed

Tested out a couple of setups for the drums today. We got a clean and nice sound, natural but still with the punch we need. We used 9 mics today, and we'll add one more tomorrow before we start recording. We realized that we probably need to use two mics on the snare. We'll at least try it.

The setup looks like this:

-Electrovoice N/D868 for the bass drum.
-Shure SM57 and SM58 for the snare.
-One mic for each tom (4 toms and 4 mics total, cant remember what model).
-Two CM3 mics for A/B overhead.
-SP B1 as a room mic.

We'll continue checking some stuff tomorrow and then we'll start recording 'My Reason' tomorrow evening, fingers crossed.

Keep rockin'

First evening of recording!

So now its time. Time to rock. Or in the words of Joey Tempest:

"Rock me like you never done before
Then rock me just a little bit more"

We'll start drum recordings TODAY! Or at least we'll spend the friday evening setting things up. A lot of drum gear to manage and I'll get my studio gear over to our rehearsal place, where we'll set up a temp studio for the drum recording. We'll use 8-10 mics on the drumset. I'll tell you more about the setup later on.

Walle will pick me up in his shiny rockin' Seat Ibiza soon, I'm just waiting.. and drinkin' some coffee.. not enough coffee today i'd say. But I'm working on that as well.

I'll try to get some pictures on the setup tonight as well.

SEEE YA!

No One Left

Here's a song that I wrote with my friend Marcus - who's also the eminent bassplayer in Point zero! I wrote the music and melodies, Mackan wrote all the lyrics. He writes amazing lyrics and works really fast! :) You rock mackis!

Anyway, here it is:

The lyrics:

No one left

Music: Fredrik Lindberg
Lyrics: Marcus Persson Lindqvist

Captured straydog in a cage
Born dirty, born old age
Seeking an escape
Even from you

No one left
There is no one left
Once again, it is easier that way

No one left
There is no one left
Not even you, could make him stay

Captured straydog free again
Roaming lonely with his pain
Wondering why again
(The cold lands and) not you?

No one left
There is no one left
Once again, it is easier that way

No one left
There is no one left
Not even you, could make him stay

No one left
There is no one left
Once again, well its easier that way

No one left
There is no one left
Not even you, could make me stay

No one left...

The week of drums!

Tomorrow we start! First day of testing mics for the drums for the coming point zero recording. We'll try a couple of BD mics tomorrow to see which one we prefer - sound-wise. We have booked Friday-Monday this coming weekend for the actual recording. Exciting..

Rub al-Khali

Finished another track today, it's called 'Rub al-Khali', which is an desert located mainly in Saudi Arabia. It's the greatest desert on earth and one of the most climate hostile places on earth. I got inspired by reading about it, the name 'Rub al-Khali' means, loosely translated - 'empty space', or something like that.

The music is of course middle eastern inspired and has that desert-flair. :)

I'll upload all of the songs for my promo later on. Until then, keep on rockin' and have a lovely friday.

Dagens citat

"Det går i motsatt håll mot groovet och det går inte att räkna"
- Detta sa en något trött Mackan till mig under dagens rep :)

Hoppas jag citerade rätt, men det var något åt det hållet iaf. Mackan? Du kan väl rätta mig om jag citerade dig fel. Kul var det!

Point zero - It's time

Now it's time. Time to start recordings with point zero, finally. We had an rehearsal today and it feels like we're ready, like we've played the songs enough and that we need to move on, and we will. Next week we'll enter the studio with point zero, to record the first couple of tracks. Starting tuesday, as it seems now. I'll post updates and progress reports here.

We'll start with the two tracks 'Unbeatable Foe' and 'My Reason', and if everything goes smoothly we'll probably continue on with the rest of the set.

It will be a couple of rough, fun, rockin' weeks, I'm sure!

Exciting times!

Stay rockin'

Lindbergmusic.se - Music for games and media

I'm about to finish the last couple of songs for this promo. It's a promo that I will send to the business in hope of making contacts in the industry. I have a wide palette styles featured on this promo, but they all have in common that they could be applied to any kind of media, that's at least what I had in mind writing them. But if you dig this kind of music you probably could also enjoy it as an album of songs.

These are the completed songs at this stage:

01 - Breathless Sleep
02 - Bring Them Home
03 - Collision
04 - Core Enigma
05 - Extreme Conditions
06 - Grand Design
07 - Imperium
08 - No One Left
09 - No You in Me
10 - Pathfinder
11 - Something From Nothing
12 - State of Solace
13 - Warstorm
14 - Will Versus Exhaustion

..and the songs that are in the making:

Point zero continued

So where are we?

We are right here :) Rockin' more than ever. The recordings haven't really started yet though, but we are somewhere in the calm before the storm, the songs are written, and we're all getting psyked and ready to rock, all of us strongly believe in the songs and we dearly hope that the recordings will run smoothly and that they will realize our vision.

We had an lengthy rehearsal yesterday and we still do some changes in the arrangements of the songs. So they'll be finely tuned for the recording.

We believe that the songlist looks like this for now (its close, but we don't dare to say it's THE final list, you never do, right?):

..(in no specific order)..

1. Ruin (part 1)
2. The Ride
3. A Secret Place
3. Unbeatable Foe
4. My Reason
5. The Kings Hall
6. Equilibrium
7. Merry-Go-Round
8. Spring to Life
9. Keep it True
10. The Reckoning
11. Rest Assured
12. Ruin (part 2-8)
13. Dream of You (not rehearsed yet, we'll see if this one makes the cut).

...13 must be a lucky number, right?

The next project is to record 'Unbeatable foe' and 'My Reason'. These tracks will be released when they are done. Then well proceed to record the whole thingie.

Stay rockin'

Ember

Hi there folks, it's been a while. I've been working hard trying to finish some of my musicial projects, soon...

For now, here's a somewhat strange little track I wrote with the eighties in mind, its called 'Ember':

Lyrics:

Ember (Music and lyrics: Fredrik Lindberg)

Demons - in all our tad glorious
Meetings - I try to be there when you're
Screaming - and now I believe in your
Monsters

Ember

Darkness - I've seen it before with the
Leaving - but still I adore when you're
Screaming - I had my though time with your
Monsters (monsters)

Ember - Know that I
Know that I have more to know
Ember - Know that I have more to give
Know all this

Now I learn to read your eyes
They are changing by the way
The the fire that I've seen has withered away

Now I learn to read your eyes
They are changing by the way
The the fire that I've seen has withered away

(add on chorus:)

I look at you now
You changed for the worse
I look at you now
The stranger in you

Leave the reasons that you
Greive - I've seen the way you
Dream - of love you do not
Understand

Leave - The reasons that you
Greive - I've seen the way you
Dream - the screams that keep you up at night

...I'll try to keep this blog more up to date. See ya soon!

Funny the way it is

I'm a big Dave Matthews Band fan! I love their smart and funky music with a lot of soul in it. Their latest album is called "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King". I believe it to be one of their best albums of all time, simply amazing stuff. From the first time I heard "Funny the way it is" I was hooked. Great stuff!

More songs and more rehearsals

Howdy Hoy!

Yesterday we had a soft rehearsal with Point zero. Mackan is still over in McDonalds land, so I guess it went well considering.

I've been writing on FOUR new songs for pz, actually three new ones and one 'old'...

I'm writing lyrics for two of the newer tracks and I have lyrics for the old track already, but I'll try to re-write some parts of it. The last track I'll leave the lyric spot open for the other guys.

The songs I have lyrics for are called 'A Secret Place', 'The Reckoning' and 'No Angel'.

Dream Theater - A Rite of Passage

As most people who know me knows ;) I'm a big Dream Theater fan. Seen them live five times and have all their CD's and DVD's. Here's a video for their first singel of the new album:

I like the chorus and the video looks great! /F

Hellrider six-pack

From time to time there's a musicial competition at the studio forum. Before, I have just entered the competitions/festivals on kontrollrummet (similar type of musicial festivals over there). But since the theme for the coming competition on studio forum is death metal I just had to participate. I'm hoping that I will get it all together before the deadline (24 May), I'm aiming to finish two songs, fingers crossed. I've talked to some guys that might help me out with the vocals and stuff as well. I will put this evil music online somewhere when the competition is over, so you can bang a bit with me.

But for now I will just sing the first riff for you - daaa-dududu.....daaa-dududu. Hit warning?

...anyhow..

stay metal.. or.. something.

Cheerz! /F

PZ break - Working on a few new songs

We'll have a few weeks break now with Point zero since Mackan has gone to U S and A. Maybe the rest of us will rehearse a bit during his absence, we'll see.

As I have said earlier we are rehearsing eight full tracks atm. I got into 'writing mode' last week as well. So I've written some parts for a couple of new tracks. As it seems new it will be around three different tracks, all of different styles. One track is almost completley written. I hope the guys will help me out with lyrics, ideas, arrangement as usual.

We did some basic recordings on our last rehearsal (Monday this week). Just used one mic and recorded seven of the eight songs. The total time for these songs - 33.4 minutes according to Itunes. Give and take.

We'll use these recordings to refine the songs and make them even better in arrangement and musical details. Or something of that effect.

We talked briefly about starting the real recordings in July/August. That might change as we go along, we'll just have to wait and see.

Stay on the right side of the rock! /Freddy

Music in Speech

In 1984, one of my guitar heroes, Steve Vai, released an album called 'Flexable'. Featured on this album was an amazing track called 'So Happy'. Steve Vai translates a womans speech into guitar tones, rhythmically and tonally. I remember that I heared people talk about this actual track before having a chance to hear it myself. It was something else.

Here you can listen to that track, be patient, because it dosen't start right away:

Today I got to see a video on youtube entiteled 'Marco Minnemann feat. Monty Pythons'. Marco plays drums to a Monty Python sketch, much like Steve Vai did back in 1984. What a musical memory to be able to pull of something like this.

Check it out:

Back to Point zero

Another rockin' rehearsal today with the boys. Went very well I must say. We're getting tighter with each rehearsal and we refine each song a little bit for each time we play em. We tried out an ending for 'Equlibrium' today, it worked out really well. Its a bit proggy, melodic and epic at the same time. 'Keep It True' got a lot tighter and better today as well, we changed a few minor details and it rocks non stop now.

Today was also the first rehearsal with a metronome. We tried a bunch of tempos for the songs to find the right one's. Playin' to a metronome surely made the band even tighter. Really cool experience to watch the difference. On a side note we pushed the metronome to its fullest during 'The Ride' which exceeds the rockin speed of 208 BPM. Walle was on top of his game today.

Early next week we'll try to record the tracks live with a very simple setup in the rehearsal room. Just to get hear it all from another point of view.

Until next time. Keep it true! /F

Point zero - current songlist

Yesterday at the rehearsal we tried out a new track, its another rocker with a bit of a unusual middle section. I think it will work when we get it tight like a.. ;) Mackan wrote lyrics for both 'Equilibrium' and 'Keep It True'.

The current songlist now looks like this:

1. The Ride (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Freddy)
2. Untitled (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Johan will write some lyrics)
3. The Kings Hall (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Freddy)
4. Merry-go-round (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Freddy)
5. Equilibrium (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Mackan)
6. Unbeatable Foe (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Freddy)
7. My Reason (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Freddy)
8. Keep It True (Music: Point zero, Lyrics: Mackan)

That's that. On a much more serious note - the sun is shining like crazy outside, it's time for a much needed barbeque!

HAPPY WEEKENDING! /Freddy

Point zero - The Rehearsal Room

Today before the rehearsal with Point zero I took some pictures of the place, so now you can see how it looks like.

The rehearsal went great by the way. We tried out the new version of 'merry-go-round', and I'm very pleased with how it sounded. Johan brought some cool changes to the verse as well. Can't wait to record it!

Yesterday I uploaded my two (a tad old) contributions to the KR festivals.

A little bit of info about these songs:

'Big Bad Fish' - was my first contribution to the KR festivals, first time I entered. The festival had a forced fish theme, so I got fishy full on. I sing and play everything on this song. It finished in 4th place of 19 songs total I think.

'Dryckesflickan' - my contribution in the other contest I entered. On this one you had Mr Vallhagens (swedish) vocals already recorded and the harmonies for this old song. I trashed it totally with a punk/metal riot :) The verse harmonies and the vocals are the only thing that's from the original song, I wrote all the other riffs to make it interesting. It finished in 2nd place I think...

well, the third one's a charm?

Friday videos

First of all.. I started working on a new 'guitar track' this week, I hope to post it someday soon..

Anyhow.. check out these vids!

Avishai Cohen Trio - Eleven Wives

Amazing song and groove. I really dig this trio..

Vadrum Meets Super Mario Bros 3

sElf - Back In Black

This dude seems to be a one man band. Cool performance!

Kutiman-Thru-you - 01 - Mother of All Funk Chords

This guy takes video clips of musicians already playing something on the tube. Then he cuts/edit/timestretch/loop the clips to build a groove and a song. Amazing stuff. Check it out!

Have a nice weekend! /F

Rock Sessions

I just wanted to rock out a bit, so I wrote a couple of guitar oriented instrumental songs. It hasent been that much guitar in some of my Logic projects lately, so this was much needed for me :)

They are not perfect - written and recorded in just a couple of days. But I had a lot of fun!

The tracks:

1. Stand Up
2. On Top of the World
3. Play!

So go and rock out a bit in my little cosy rock cabbin -> Freddys myspace

Have a rockin' weekend as well ;)

Lite fler balla videos till mackan

Först ut - Världsrekordet i snabb gitarr

Lindberg Studios - Album/Promo

When I write music that's in the movie/game-music style I call myself 'Lindberg Studios', I know it's rather fancy and pretentious, but I like it :)

It's one of many of those pseudonyms I use to separate my musical projects from one another. Anyways..

I've been writing a lot of songs for this project so I decided to make an album of it. The number of songs seem to keep growing by the day, but here is the current tracklist and order:

  1. State of Solace
  2. Grand Design
  3. In Breathless Sleep
  4. Lost in Space
  5. Extreme Conditions
  6. Will Versus Exhaustion
  7. Departure
  8. No You in Me
  9. When Reality Brings You Down
  10. Sworn Enemies
  11. You
  12. Warstorm
  13. Collisions
  14. Terminal
  15. Rub al Khali
  16. Bring them Home
  17. Core Enigma
  18. Gáldu
  19. Something From Nothing
Mainly it's instrumental music, but I'll try to get vocals on some of songs. Also I know I've posted some of these tracks before on myspace for example. But for this album I'll rework and remix these songs, so they'll have changed a bit, some more than others.

It will be free to download...

And also.. I'm about to update my homepage so that all the music I wrote during 2008 will be available for download, I'll also add some new songs from 2009.

All for now. /F

Quadruple Kicks

Founds this clip of some guy playin' with quadruple kicks, some say it's cheating. But I think it's kind of cool, at least for showing off...

Can't wait for the first quadruple kickin' blastin' beatin' metal band. :)

Another Good Read

I had another exam today and it went well :) The course was based upon the book 'The art of mixing' by David Gibson, which I enjoyed reading a lot. It fills in the gap between the knowledge of your technical gadgets in the studio and how to get to reach the mix that you want. How to think about the mix and imagine the mix visually. I absoultely recommend this book, it gave me a lot of understanding and insights.

Point zero Rehearsing - the Songs

Yesterday we had another rehearsal with Point zero, it went great. Tried out a new song - 'The Kings Hall' and added some final touches to 'Merry-go-round'. So for now we rehearse the following couple of tracks:

1. The Ride
2. 'The Secret Place' (Working title, no new lyrics yet)
3. Unbeatable Foe
4. My Reason
5. It's Up to You (from our 99' demo)
6. Merry-Go-Round
7. The Kings Hall

I also added a few updates to our myspace, check it out: Point zero
Btw, we are not all BLUE, it just looks like it. Although, apparently we were all born with sunglasses attached to our head and with ROCK in mind. Fancy stuff, hehe.

Mackan if you read this, send me a photo asap. I'll blue-ifie you too! ;)

Back from House of Metal

What a weekend! A weekend filled with heavy music and cool bands. I got to see bands like: Opeth, Amon Amarth, Mustasch, The Haunted and many many more. Opeth did an amazing performance, combining humour and a great musicianship. Amon Amarth rocked the vikingsocks off us all, cool guys and a memorable experience.

I also got to see my friends band 'Moloken', they did a great show as well. I have seen them before, but this time the live sound was great and the lighting was fantastic. Actually the lighting was overall great on all the stages, creating great atmosphere for the bands.

I took some pictures with my shitty mobile phone, you can watch them in the slideshow here to the right.

In the world of sounds

Every single day I seem to learn something new about Logic. I enjoy reading about how others work within Logic to get tips and to learn new things. One of my favorites are the SFLogicNinjas video tutorials. Check them out here. I've learned quite a bit from this guy, and still do follow his video updates.

In his latest video he mention a musician called 'Moldover' which was recommended to him by the great keyboard genius Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater. So I had to check him out and I must say that I got a lot of inspiration watching this guy. Even though I'm not into the exact same music. He seems to play around with funky sounds (sampling his on stomach when eating different types of food) and other wierd stuff, really cool.

Check out his 'album preview' clip on the tube:

Watershed and Free Effects

To begin with I would like to recommend a couple of free effects that I've found useful (havent tried them all yet).

Bismark have made a couple of free plugins for mac (Spectrum analyzer, sampler):
Bismark

Stillwell have a lot of 'free' (if you could stand some 'bad karma') plug-ins as well (EQ, Limiter, Compressor, ...):

Stillwell

At last I would like to recommend two plugins from Audio Damage (a vintage compressor and fuzz distortion):

Audio Damage

Hope you dig it. I sure do!

The last few days I've listening a lot to Opeth and their new album 'Watershed'. It's so amazing and the music sounds fresh. Actually I haven't really been a Opeth fan for a long time. Always liked their music though. But now I've been backtracking all the Opeth albums that I've missed during the years and I'm stunned by all the great music these swedes write.

Here's the opening track from their latest album 'watershed' called 'Coil' preformed on swedish breakfast tv:

The Crown and the Ring

When I was a little boy, the group Manowar ment a lot to me. They sung about vikings and greek mythology and all that cool stuff. Catchy melodic metal hymns that I just adored. Manowar - Kings of metal, like they call themselves.. and I must surely agree.

I remember seeing them live during 2000 in Stockholm, just an amazing show.

These bands you grow up with will always be something special to you, Manowar will always be special to me. One of those bands. Anyways.. They seem to have released a new double DVD now, and it looks absolutely amazing. I'll have to buy it! Watched this clip today on the tube (one of my all time favourite Manowar tracks from that DVD):

Finals and Book

Valentines day and I had my first final today in the basic sounddesign course. I hope it went well, it was a bit strange at some parts/questions, but it felt alright.

Also finished a book I've been reading:

<-- that one :D

It was an alright book to read. Altough I believe that the content of the book was written in a too high level for me, not that much details. More concepts about mixing really. But that's cool too. I would recommend this book to people that have been mixing songs for a while and maybe are a bit stuck in their way of thinking. It's not the book that will explain all the studio gear in-depth. But it was easy to read and follow non-the-less.

Lucy in the sky with diamond..s

...and I'm not actually talking about The Beatles. I'm hooked on the Dream Theater song 'Octavarium' where they give a reference to this John Lennon song. Lyrics on that given section (my favourite part):

Sailing on the seven seize the day tripper diem's ready
jack the ripper owens wilson phillips and my supper's ready
lucy in the sky with diamond dave's not here I come to save the
day for nightmare cinema show me the way to get back home again

Someone asked me what albums I liked during 2008. Here's a small list of some of my favourites from 2008 (in no particular order):

  1. It Bites - The Tall Ships
  2. Juno Reactor - Gods and Monsters
  3. Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls
  4. Protest the Hero - Fortress
  5. Meshuggah - ObZen
  6. Frost* - Experiments in Mass Appeal
  7. The Arcane Order - In the Wake of Collisions
  8. Cynic - Traced in Air
  9. Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder Gods
  10. Karmakanic - Who's the Boss in the Factory
  11. Opeth - Watershed

Lindbergmusic.se online again

Since I think Aftonbladet.se will miss out on this BIG news I had to write it here. For the sake of humanity.. or.. well.. grumble.

At least I have a page again and I believe that I will have an easier time maintaining this setup.

Here it is in all its glory: Lindbergmusic.se

Soon

Worked on the homepage today, changed everything from my original approach. Well.. it was just too much left on that design and I didn't know how to get there, felt cornered.

But NOW its soon done. Really! :) At least good enough for putting it online. You could always fix stuff later, right?

You can see the banner at the top of this blog anyways, what a cutie...

Enough of nonsense for a saturday I'd say!

In the world of blogging!

Hello and very welcome to my brand new and shiny superBLOG... or something... Here I'll post stuff releated to my bands, musical projects, productions and probably some other stuff too.

I'm working on a new homepage for www.lindbergmusic.se and it will be a lot "cleaner" this time around I think. Also I started this blog-thingie, where I can post all of my nonsense quite easily!

Enough of this for now. I'll be back with some content next time.

I added my song "Bring Them Home" to a PS3 game trailer (not official), not in perfect sync though. Nothing fancy, but here it goes:
